Esplanade Outdoor Theatre

Estimated Duration

45 minutes

We speak but do not know what we mean, we hear but do not truly listen.

This year, Dance at Dusk returns with excerpts of Silence, a work created by Festival Director Kuik Swee Boon, performed by T.H.E Second Company. First choreographed as a ten-minute piece for the Asian Arts Festival in Beijing in 2006, Silence was commissioned by Esplanade to develop into a full-length work in 2007, and was subsequently performed in the Esplanade Theatre in 2009 as part of T.H.E Dance Company’s first anniversary.

For this outdoor performance, Access Path Productions will be working with Kuik and the dancers to incorporate elements that would make it more accessible and inclusive, such as audio descriptions for the blind, pre- or post-show interaction for a more sensorial experience etc.

Our current lifestyles teeter on the brink of information overload as our senses are constantly assaulted by the drone of everyday urban living. One questions whether we truly connect to our surroundings.
